AUDITION WORKSHOP for SINGERS

Ages: 10-18

Instructor: Toni Szilagi
Time: Fridays at 5:00 (call for additional times)

Develop confidence by performing weekly in a supportive atmosphere. Theater and classical repertoire prepared for auditions. Sightsinging and movement combinations will be explored as well. Music and materials included. There will be many performance opportunities both in and outside of class.

WEEKLY PERFORMANCE CLASS

Ages: 10-18

Time: Wednesdays at 7:00pm
Tuition: FREE for piano and string students taking private lessons

A wonderful opportunity for students of all instruments to perform for each other, learn about composers, hear other students play, discuss performance styles and address issues like nerves and stage fright. A great way to build confidence, inspire and be inspired!

MIXED CHAMBER MUSIC

Age: All ages. Time: arranged by group

Instructor: GNMC Faculty

For many students, playing chamber music ranks among the most rewarding experiences in their musical studies. Playing in small groups with their peers, students will gain confidence in sight reading, ensemble skills and performance. Ensembles of mixed duos and trios are formed according to ability. Adults groups are always welcome!

* Chamber groups forming in September may compete for the special opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in February 2007.

DRUMCIRCLE CLASSES

Instructor: Drori Mondlak
All Classes Meet on Saturdays (possibility of additional days)

Build strong rhythm skills using hand drums and other percussion instruments. Younger students will have great fun learning important musical concepts through creative small ensemble playing. Older students will study complex rhthyms, form more challenging ensembles and experience a variety of folk and rock musical styles. A great supplement for all students taking private lessons.

PLAY IN A ROCK BAND!

Instructors: Rich Hinman and Tosh Sheridan
Time: Saturdays 11:00 and 12:30 (additional times may be added)

Learn to jam and play in a rock band! Guitarists, bassists, and drummers are all welcome to participate in this new weekly class. The class will focus on giving students experience playing in a rock band. Students will gain a deeper understanding of music and their instruments by collaborating with one another under the supervision of two experienced professional musicians. If students are already playing in bands, this class will help them develop as a group. At the end of the semester, students will put on a rock show for friends and family.

BASIC THEORY MUSICIANSHIP CLASSES

Instructor: GNMC Faculty

Music Theory explores the fundamentals of music making and is highly recommended as a supplement for every student taking private lessons. Beginning classes will reinforce note reading and rhythm skills, review key signatures and study basic harmony and ear training. Advanced classes will compose and study composition techniques from a variety of styles. Our classes are formed according to level and age of students. Class size is extremely small (2-5 students) for optimal learning. Please call for times.

MEET THE ORCHESTRA

Ages 6-9 and 10-14

The orchestra is introduced by demonstrations of almost every instrument, discussions about how each instrument works and plenty of hands on experience. Students will listen to live music and recordings and begin to recognize different genres and composers. This is the perfect class for any student who loves music and wants to learn more it, or any student who is trying to pick a new instrument to learn.
